We’ve put together the perfect cocktail list for those of you who every now and then like the finer things in life. This glamorous and brand-new Martini menu, consisting of just Martini cocktails will add some glitz into your Spring/Summer evenings.

Be prepared to be treated like you’re in the set of a James Bond movie – all cocktails will be shaken (not stirred) and poured for you at your table, with a garnishing of fresh fruit for that ultimate Pushkar refreshment.

Martini History: Martini was born from a partnership between two skilled men, Alessandro Martini and Luigi Rossi: Alessandro the spirited entrepreneur, Luigi the inspired master craftsmen. Together they shared a vision to produce a unique product that would represent the very best in Italian quality and style.

In the mid 1800’s the two men first came together in Turin working for a company specialising in the production and sale of wines, vermouth and liqueurs. Throughout this time they sort to create a new formulation for a smoother, more consistent style of aromatic wine. In 1863 they launched their masterpiece to global acclaim and the new company of Martini came into being.

Birmingham’s Pushkar Cocktail Bar and Dining have been awarded almost a clean sweep of OpenTable awards, which was recently voted by the 1000’s of OpenTable diners across the country. The Broad Street based, fine dining Indian restaurant was voted as the Diners Choice Winner and The Midlands Best - Ambiance, Food, Overall, Service, Special Occasion and Most Booked. Pushkar was also voted UK’s/London & Ireland’s Best Indian and Best Ambience.

OpenTable is a worldwide online restaurant booking facility where food lovers can simply go to www.opentable.com signup and make reservations for 1000’s of different restaurants across the country. An email is then sent to the diner days after the reservation date which allows them to rate their experience. 1000’s of emails are submitted each day, with everyone recorded to provide an accurate winner. Pushkar is without doubt keeping Birmingham’s Broad Street at the forefront of the catering and hospitality world. Our exclusive North Indian restaurant opened back in November 2009 and despite the turbulent economy we’re ending our second year with a number of awards, accolades and celebrity diners.

The latest celebrity diners at Pushkar were Radio1 DJ, Sara Cox and TV Comedy star, Rufus Hound. Sara and Rufus where part of a small group of diners and came across Pushkar whilst on the popular social networking site Twitter. Their host for the evening was our Creative Director, Rai Singh, who served Sara with Pushkar’s signature dish – Goa Fish Curry and Rufus with another signature dish – Punjabi Nalli Gosht. Just days after the following tweets were sent to our Twitter page from Sara – “@PushkarBham we loved it, thank you. You were fantastic and the food was delish, thank you, Sara & Rufus x.”

2011 British Curry Awards final

We can now proudly announce that we’ve reached the final of the 2011 British Curry Awards for a second successive year and head to the star studded award ceremony at Battersea Evolution in London on the 28^th November.

This years British Curry Awards has seen a record number of nominations with over 68,000 from across the UK. All regional finalists and winners will be announced at the final by well-known celebrity Chef, James Martin.

Organisers of the event have teamed up with media partners such as ITN, Star Plus, BBC and the Daily Mirror in a bid to create an amazing spectacle that is set to dazzle all guests on the evening!

Birmingham Food Fest Celebrations at Pushkar

Pushkar will be celebrating the Birmingham Food Fest this year with a truly authentic and exciting “Dhaba”menu. The Festival kicks off on the 14^th October with Pushkar launching its new menu on the same day. The menu will only be available throughout the duration of the Birmingham Food Fest, which ends 23^rdOctober.

As the idea behind Food Fest is to celebrate the diversity of the city’s food scene, Pushkar have gone back to their roots and are offering diners a rare opportunity to taste original and untouched “Dhaba” recipes. These original recipes, authentic and unaltered, recall the rough and ready cuisine that can be bought at any roadside in India. The range focuses on Punjabi and North Indian specialties.

“Dhaba” is the term for basic eateries typically found on the highways and outskirts of the cities, towns & villages in India. These authentic, roadside huts were initially started by enterprising Punjabis, so they could cater for the needs of the huge volume of truckers and long distance travellers in the region.

Most Indian food lovers will be familiar with some of the dishes on the menu, which includes:

Tandoori Chicken

“King of kebabs” - The best and tastiest known Indian barbeque chicken. Spring chicken on the bone, marinated in a mixture of yogurt, malt vinegar and spices, cooked in a tandoor, served sprinkled with kebab masala.

Lamb Keem Kaleji

Semi dry preparation of lamb mince and lamb liver with chilli, ginger, tomato, onions and fresh coriander.

Sarson-Da-Saag (V)

Punjabi speciality of mustard greens. Goes well with makki di roti.

The name maybe familiar but the style of cooking, recipes, ingredients and the taste will be a whole new experience.

Pushkar launches The Word

Pushkar Cocktail Bar & Dining showcased its award winning hospitality by hosting the launch party for The Broad Street Business Improvement District (BID) publication – The Word. The launch event was attended by staff from Broads Streets thriving business scene, Bars, Clubs, Restaurants and leisure venues. Representatives from the 270+ BID member businesses and partners also made up the numbers.

Speaking at the launch Pushkars Creative Director, Rai Singh, said:

“A great honor for us to welcome all of our fellow businesses and venues from along Broad Street and Brindleyplace. It was a great opportunity for us all to get together, network and discuss how we can all work together regardless of business type.”

Guests enjoyed complimentary drinks from the Cocktail Bar and a selection of beautiful canapés from the multi award winning kitchen. Capping things off was Broad Streets Manager, Mike Olley, who expressed his views and future plans for both Broad Street and The Word during his speech.

Pushkars close friend needs your help!

For my evening job! I try to portray myself as an energetic fit cyclist, indeed I do cycle quite a lot. However a good friend has persuaded me to do a charity ride. 90 Mile, on a Saturday night (namely 11th June), Travelling the streets of London!

I hope to average about 15+ miles per hour, as most of this challenge is flat, though I may be swerving the odd Beer and Wine Spilling Saturday nighter! causing delay. We start at 11.30 in the evening and hope to finish at about Sunrise! Sunday morning.

I regularly do 20-40 Miles on my bike in one hit but have never done 90! This is indeed a BIG challenge for a Vino Quaffing life loving father of 2.

So if you feel you can spare a few pennies towards my passion for madness then all proceeds will be going to The National Deaf Children’s Society.

Pushkar helps the regions youngsters

Lucky pupils studying at the Castle Vale Performing Arts College in Birmingham were treated to a rare insight into the glitzy world of Birmingham’s ‘front of house masters’ Pushkar Cocktail Bar & Dining. The Castle Vale hopefuls, who are studying for a B-tech in Hospitality & Catering, enjoyed a subsidised, educational outing to the restaurant and a rare opportunity to quiz Pushkars Creative Director, Rai Singh, for some industry secrets and wise knowledge.

Rai Singh, shared his experience with the 15-16 year old pupils for most of the afternoon and provided them with valuable advice on how ‘front of house’ need to proactively read different situations and customer types, always encourage the diner to feel at ease and how to manage a fluent restaurant under great pressure.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce the aspiring group into the industry, provide essential work experience and extend their knowledge to further help with their studying.

After the tutorials all students were finding out first hand how Pushkar hospitality operates, as they sat back and enjoyed a three course meal. As events unfolded on the day the theme seemed to replicate similarities from the hit BBC show, Michel Roux, on his quest to train youngsters in the art of front of house hospitality.

This Valentines we’re serving a very special dish called, ‘Safed Murgh Korma’. This wonderful dish was born under the stars in the court of the Moghal Emperor by Shah Jahan, creator of one of the most beautiful Seven Wonders of the World, the incredible, ‘Taj Mahal’. Shah Jahan, created this dish and held a spectacular white banquet on the night of a stunning and romantic full moon for his beloved wife, Mumtaj Mahal. The white banquet was delicately decorated with soft white flowers, cushions and tableware.

In serving this dish we pay tribute to the Moghal Emperor, a great lover from history, who left us with his monument of love for the world to enjoy.

Another month, yet another award nomination!

The exclusive, British Asian ‘HAFTA’ Awards celebrates the annual contribution and efforts accomplished by the British Asian community in business.

Rai Singh, Creative Director at Pushkar, has been called upon by the ‘HAFTA’ organisers to enter for the highly competitive, Food Industry Entrepreneur Award.

Competition year on year becomes an ever closely fought battle between the nominees’; despite this we’re still very confident because we know that Pushkar offers an experience that none of our competitors can match.

The annual, prestigious, British Curry Awards takes place this year at Grosvenor House Hotel, London. With comedian, Justin Lee Collins, presenting, what’s often referred to as the ‘Curry Oscars’.

After 1000’s of nominations from across the country, Pushkar will be flying the flag high for Birmingham at the final showdown in London. Only 40 restaurants are now left standing, ready to do battle. Emerging triumphantly from this battle will be nine regional winners and best Newcomer of the Year.

British Curry Awards 2010

Pushkar has been nominated too battle it out with almost 100 Indian restaurants across the country, so they can lay claim to the aloof ‘Curry Oscars’. The winners of the 2010 British Curry Awards will be announced at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on Sunday 21 November.

A whopping 3,500 restaurants (more than one-third of the UK total) were nominated. The elite nominees list has now been whittled down to a final 40, of which there will be nine regional winners and best Newcomer of the Year.

Comedian Justin Lee Collins will host this year’s star-studded awards ceremony which will include other celebrity guests such as Chris Tarrant, Gary Rhodes, Heston Blumenthal, Ken Livingstone, Eamonn Holmes, Nick Ferrari, Rageh Omaar, David ‘Kid’ Jensen and James Whale.
